Licensing Analyst

Washington, District of Columbia, United States | ZG Gaming | Full-time | Partially remote

Apply

ZG Gaming Solutions, a non-law-firm affiliate of ZwillGen PLLC, is looking for a Licensing Analyst who is eager for a challenge and ready to support the growth of our company.  ZG Gaming provides gaming licensing management services to companies in and around the growing U.S. regulated gaming sector - particularly sports betting, online casino gaming, and fantasy sports.  We are building a robust, technology-enabled licensing management program to support our clients’ growing needs and are looking for motivated individuals eager to expand the company’s operational capacity.

About the Role

Our Licensing Analysts work collaboratively with project managers, other analysts, and attorneys to drive the lifecycle of applying for, securing, and maintaining gaming-related licenses on behalf of our clients across numerous different states. Specific responsibilities and opportunities for someone in this role are likely to grow over time, shaped by our clients’ needs as well as the skillsets and interests of our hires.

This position does not require any prior experience with the regulated gaming industry.  It does require an energetic, curious person who has some familiarity and an ability to learn about business, compliance, and financial topics, and is comfortable jumping into different projects and learning new tools without significant formal training. Attention to detail and taking responsibility for the quality of work are critical, given that our work product undergoes careful scrutiny by government regulators and is material to our clients’ businesses.

The technology-centric nature of our clients and work requires comfort with software/web applications and the ability to self-teach and explore new project management and collaboration tools.  The role also requires polished verbal and written communication skills and sound judgment, as projects may require working directly with client executives and attorneys.  The ability to work independently while managing multiple projects under rigid time constraints is a must.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft application forms and exhibits, and communicate with corporate clients and individual applicants in connection with regulatory licensing applications
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive reference information and document repositories for individuals and companies; analyze documents and responses to complete applications and respond to regulator questions
  • Prepare applicant requirement lists and regulatory summary sheets for background investigations
  • Interface with business registration, notary, and fingerprinting vendors; coordinate appointments with individual applicants and company executives as necessary
  • Participate in the development and ongoing improvement of our internal protocols and systems for managing license application workflows

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree, with a minimum of 1 year prior experience in a professional environment, preferably a role involving business client interaction, project management, legal/compliance documentation, finance/accounting, professional consulting, or similar
  • Sharp and adaptable organizational, analytical, research, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, both in drafting original work product and reviewing information provided by others
  • Ability to learn new technologies and processes, with willingness to experiment and self-teach
  • Robust computer skills with emphasis on Adobe Acrobat, Word, project management tools, web applications, and additional specialized software
  • Ability to work standard business hours with some flexibility for overtime, as necessary
  • Preferred but not required qualifications:
    • Prior experience in the legal or compliance fields, government agency, or gaming compliance
    • Competency in financial analysis, regulated industry filings, or similar

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at a time
